Question: What is the function of the Security Council?.

Answer:  The function of the Security Council are: It is the most important organ of the United Nations. It has 15 members, five of these are permanent and ten are elected for 2 years by a two-third majority of the General Assembly. No country can serve for two consecutive terms. USA, Russia, Britain, France, and China are its permanent members. These members have special power called the ‘veto power’ which allows them to say ‘No’. Thus, these five countries are very powerful as they can check the decisions of the others.
