Question: How are geography and diversity interrelated?

Answer: India has a wide geographical diversity. There are five main physical divisions – the Great Mountain Wall of the North, the Indo – Gangetic Plains, the Desert Regions of the west, the Coastal Plains and the Islands (Andaman, Nicobar and Lakshadweep). This varied topography influenced the climate and in turn the diet, dress, customs ans culture of the people.

Question: How does diversity enrich our lives?

Answer: Diversity enriches our lives significantly in various forms such as food, Clothes, religion, customs, traditions and religions. These divers mixture of several influences that were acquired over the ages and now form a part of our wonderful heritage.

Question: How is diversity and tolerance linked?

Answer: Diversity is an integral part of our lives. It teaches us that there are different ways of doing the same things. it adds to the richness of our society. Diversity teaches us to be tolerant and helps us respect people who may have different religious beliefs, social customs or who may not have the same advantages as we do.

Question: ‘India is a country of many diversities’. Explain giving examples.

Answer: Ope of the special features of India is that it is a country of many diversities. For example.

  1. We speak different languages, such as Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, etc.
  2. We eat different kinds of food, such as chawal, dal, razma, idli, dosa, roti, etc.
  3. We celebrate different festivals, such as Holi, Diwali, Eid, Gurpurab, Christmas, Baishakhi, etc.
  4. We practice different religions, such as Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Christianity, etc.
  5. We wear different types of clothes, such as saree-blouse, Kurta-pyjama, shirt- pant, etc.
