Question: What is the different techniques used by the advertisers?

Answer: The different techniques used by the advertisers to attract customers are:

  1. Repetition – Some advertisers try to fix their product in the minds of the people through constant repetition.
  2. Health card – Some advertisers of the product like toothpastes and cooking oil play the health card- citing references of doctors and dentists.
  3. Catchy slogans or jingles – Some advertisers use celebrities to endorse (recommend) their products, and some use catchy slogans or jingles to attract customers.
  4. Offering discounts – Some attract consumers by offering discounts on price or by announcing a sale.
  5. Target particular sections of the society – Some advertisements target particular sections of the society like some target women, and some target children.

Question: What is the disadvantages of advertising?

Answer: Disadvantages are as follows:

  1. To stay ahead of competition, many companies issue advertisements that mislead people.
  2. Advertisers often do not give correct or relevant information about the product. For example: fizzy drinks like Colas known to damage the teeth, but advertisements do not mention this.
  3. Advertisers are well aware that advertisements in the media with a few catchy slogans or attractive models can make a vast difference to their sales. They prey on the emotions of the people, they influence their lifestyle, and the way they view themselves and other people.
  4. Advertisement encourages consumerism and materialism.
