The Republic Day: Short Essay for Students and Children

The Republic Day of our country is celebrated on the 26th January every year. It is a day of great pride for us. It was on this day in the year 1950 that India became a Sovereign Democratic Republic. The constitution of our country was also declared on the same day.

The Republic Day is celebrated all over India by hoisting the National Flag, singing the National Anthem and giving patriotic speeches etc, just as we do on our Independence Day. However, the Republic Day is celebrated in a very special way in New Delhi, the capital of our country.

The Republic Day: Short Essay

On this day, people from all over the country come to see the grand parade from Rajpath to Red fort. The army, navy and air force squads march past the President in their salute. The tanks, guns and missiles are also on display. Even the police and N.C.C. cadets take part in the parade.

After that, the different states of India present their tableaux. Each tries to outdo the others in showing a true picture of their state. Folk dances and colourful drills are also held. School children participate in these.

Finally, different air planes fly past in wonderful formations. They shower rose petals and also form our National Flag in its tricolour with their trails.

The Republic Day parade is telecast live on the national television, and the whole country watches it with wonder. Everyone is left with felling of national pride and patriotism. The children especially enjoy the Republic Day very much.
