A museum is a place where old relics are kept for public show. A visit to a museum adds much to our knowledge of the past. Yesterday, I had a chance to visit a museum in New Delhi. I was a huge building, divided into various sections. Each section had different exhibits.

The arms section contained old swords, spikes, daggers, helmets, bows and arrows, coats of mall and other weapons of war, There was a model of a battle scene in a glass case.

In the adjoining room were articles of house-hold use dug up from old historical sites. They threw a flood of light on the domestic life of the ancient people. There were pots and pans, silver ornaments, bangles, foot-wears, clothes and musical instruments of various kinds.

Another section had a large number of paintings. These were paintings of Court scenes, horse races, fights of wild animals and dances. The paintings of the Mughal period were wonderful specimens of the art.

One section had models of irrigation schemes, dams and hydro-electric projects. There were records of the achievements made by Indian States after Independence. This how our country was marching ahead toward progress and prosperity.
