The annual EWISR study, which rates India’s premier 1,000 schools in 10 categories, is regarded as one of the world’s most comprehensive, in-depth and extensive school-evaluation surveys.

In its 12th edition released on Saturday at Gurugram, the EWISR rated Vasant Valley as the best in the day co-ed school category because of its unparalleled individual attention to students, including special needs pupils, co-curricular education and teacher welfare and development programmes.

“We have always worked for our students at the micro level and every day is an opportunity to learn,” noted Vasant Valley School principal Rekha Krishnan after receiving the award. “Our teacher-to-student ratio, flexibility and contemporary teaching mechanism have helped us achieve all-round development of children, widening their mental horizon.”

The survey was based on a sample respondent database of 12,214 educationists, principals, teachers, parents and students from across 27 cities and education hubs in the country.

They were interviewed to rate the shortlisted schools on a variety of parameters, including academic reputation, faculty competence, leadership qualities, life skills, safety and hygiene, community service, internationalism, value for money, sports education and infrastructure.

The survey classified schools in four categories – day co-ed, day-cum-boarding, girls and boys schools.

“The EducationWorld India ranking is a scientific measure wherein a school is identified depending upon the scientific development of children,” explained Dilip Thakore, publisher and editor of the EducationWorld magazine. “We strive to provide for the changing needs of students and work in accordance with the need to create prodigies.”

Delhi’s Vasant Valley School, established in 1990, is a self-financing day school with a current enrolment of 1,257 in classes foundation to XII. Spread over eight acres, the campus houses fully-equipped science and computer laboratories.

In classes XI and XII, the Vasant Valley students prepare for the All India Senior School Certificate Examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education.

The school has over 140 members of staff, out of which more than 100 hold a postgraduate degree.

EducationWorld is a highly reputed human resource development magazine, billed as Asia’s first education, news and analysis monthly journal.
